pavinees09
I have just updated my portfolio site, pavinees.com and now it’s up! I keep the same simplicity as the previous version, making it clean and easy to navigate. The difference is that this time I did the whole site in Flash. I should have done this a long time ago as I used to learn Flash basic at school, but like languages, without practicing I just lost the knowledge and have to return to the class. This updated version is not so flashy but I think I cover all the basic I should know for having a Flash site. I intend to have something more complicated in my next update though.

Bad thing about hi-speed internet is that it makes you less patient.

A week ago I had problem with getting connected to the internet. At first I thought that the problem came from my phone line and the technician from my service provider confirmed that. But when I said my doubt about the ADSL router being broken, he confidently dismissed it. So I went through the process of having my phone line reinstalled with better performance supply. It still didn’t work. It took me another two whole days waiting for the technician to come, check and say that the ADSL router was really broken. Yeah, right:-(

Now It should be very easy to fix this. Just buy a new router and I could get connected. I went to service shop and found that the specific router had beenĀ  out of stock and it would take a week for the new stock to come!

I know I shouldn’t complain anything as I can still use my computer’s built-in modem to get online and the ordinary speed internet is not that low either. It’s just that I am totally spoiled with the hi-speed internet and a little bit slowness can easily gets on my nerves. I think I have to remind myself of the days I patiently waited for my work file sent via email in low-speed internet more often.

Anyway, above is a doodle which has nothing to do with my babbling. Just feel a need to have image on each post ^-^.

one fine afternoon

I did this sketch in one fine afternoon. The setting was what my dad already had in his garden. The colorful pumpkins bought for celebrating the past Chinese new year day were carefully laid in a wooden nest. The chair was a simple one, very old and worn out with years of sunlight and wind. While I was drawing, it occurred to meĀ  that this chair had been in our garden for, perhaps, almost twenty years and I had been living in such natural environment for too many years that I took it for granted. It seemed like I suddenly noticed things around me. The different tones of birdsong. The various shapes and shades of tree leaves. The fresh breeze in such ordinary afternoon time.
I wondered why I never see this kind of things before…
I wanted to color this sketch but thought better of it and took this photo instead.

sick day

Old song, old video but still has power to refresh my sick day a little bit.
Wish I could get healthy and be out there under the warm sun soon.

My all time favorite song, Start by Depapepe.

time

time by you.

The photo was taken at my cousin’s place. The house was once my own house. I used to live here when I was very young. So, it kinda adds the sense of time to the picture. We had some kind of a family meeting that day. Uncle, aunt, cousin got together and shared their stories. I realized that we all were getting old. Some day in the future we would be gone. Time wouldn’t stop for us, it just keep on and on…

Somehow I don’t feel scared of death anymore…

I’m currently reading a fantasy fiction called Storm Warning by Mercedes Lackey I’m not a fan of Lackey’s works. I am just in a mood of reading something about magic and this book happened to draw me while I was browsing the fantasy shelf in Kinokuniya. I have always wanted to be a real fan of fantasy fiction. I mean being one who reads lots of books in this genre. Unfortunately, I haven’t found any fantasy books that would hold my attention long enough to finish reading. The only trilogy I finished and considered it as one of the best books (in general not in fantasy term though) I have ever read is The Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb. I’m still searching for a fantasy world that would capture me and make me proud of my time spent and I really hope that this Storm Warning would be the one. We will see…

Well, I have just began the second chapter of the book, couldn’t tell anything about it yet but what I could tell is about the illustration on the cover. It seems that this artist, Jody Lee, has a long-term contract for most of Mercedes Lackey’s works. Her style did not interest me at first since I was more drawn to something simpler and more graphic. Now, having the book in my hand, I’m beginning to like her style and wish I could do those details just like she always has in her works. Check out her site, you will find interesting sketches, drawings that lead to beautiful final artwork.
